Pregnancy and postpartum recovery are often treated like short chapters in a woman's healthcare journey, but for many women, they are some of the most physically and emotionally demanding seasons of life. I saw that long before I experienced it myself. Then becoming a mother gave me an entirely new understanding of how much support, education, and recovery care women truly need, and how often they are expected to navigate it alone.

Throughout my career, I kept seeing the same gaps in care. Women were navigating pregnancy without enough support for their changing bodies, preventative care, or birth preparation. Then after delivery, many were sent home to recover largely on their own, expected to heal and adjust to motherhood with very little guidance beyond a routine six-week follow-up appointment. I could not stop thinking about how often mothers and their care fall through the cracks. So I decided to do something about it, and that is why I built Plaetz Therapy.

I am a Doctor of Physical Therapy with a specialization in pelvic health, pregnancy, and postpartum care, practicing for over 10 years and currently serving the Eau Claire, WI area. I earned my degrees from The College of St. Scholastica in Duluth, Minnesota. This community is not just where I work. It is where I live and where I am committed to raising the standard of care for women through pregnancy, preventative care, and postpartum recovery.

My approach is rooted in one belief: recovery should restore function, not just get you by. Pelvic health is not about isolated muscles or a single set of exercises. It is about how you breathe, move, prepare your body for birth, recover after it, lift your baby, and return to feeling like yourself. I also believe women deserve proactive care, not just treatment after symptoms appear. That means providing education and guidance during pregnancy and postpartum on how to prevent and manage common issues like pelvic pain, pressure, leaking, back pain, core weakness, and birth recovery challenges before they become overwhelming. I look at your body as a system because your care deserves to be treated that way.

I also believe education is part of healing. Too many women move through pregnancy and postpartum appointments without understanding what is happening in their bodies or what they can do about it. Every appointment I provide is built around making sure you leave with more clarity and confidence than you came in with.

Outside of work, life looks a lot like most of yours. A busy toddler, a husband, two dogs, and never enough hours in the day. I prioritize my own mental and physical health too, whether that's a run, a hike, a baking project, or getting lost in a good podcast or audiobook. I built Plaetz Therapy around real life because I am very much living one.

If you have been looking for someone who will take your pregnancy, preventative care, and recovery as seriously as you do, I would love to connect.
