Postpartum healing begins immediately after birth, and early support can make a significant difference in how your body recovers. Whether you had a vaginal or cesarean delivery, physical therapy during the first 6 weeks provides real guidance as your body heals.
Early care can help you restore core and pelvic floor function, address diastasis recti, reduce pain with movement, mobilize c-section or perineal scar tissue, manage bladder and bowel symptoms, and safely return to fitness and daily activities.
In-home care during this phase also means real-time guidance in your actual environment, helping you move, lift, feed, and care for your baby in ways that support healing from day one.
-
Earlier than you might think. Depending on your delivery and how you are feeling, care can begin as early as 1 to 2 weeks postpartum. Early support can make a meaningful difference in how your body heals, how you manage pain, and how safely you return to daily activity.

No referral is needed. Wisconsin is a direct access state, which means you can begin physical therapy without a physician's referral. If you plan to seek reimbursement through your insurance, your plan may require one, so it is worth checking with your insurance company directly to understand their out-of-network requirements.
-
Not at all. One of the biggest advantages of in-home care is that your children can stay right where they are. We can work around nap schedules, and your baby is always welcome to be part of the session.
-
I come to you, so there is no need to go anywhere. During your first visit we will review your medical history, talk through your goals, and assess your overall mobility. I will answer any questions you have, build an individualized treatment plan, and provide guidance on recovery and returning to activity safely.
Your assessment may include things like getting in and out of bed, lifting and holding your baby, feeding positions, carrying and diapering, posture and movement patterns, breathing mechanics, toileting mechanics, and c-section scar assessment if applicable.
-
Both initial evaluations and follow-up visits are one-on-one and approximately 60 minutes in length. That time is fully dedicated to you. To make the most of your first session, please complete all intake forms prior to your appointment.

In-home PT means no travel, no waiting rooms, and no need to arrange childcare. It also means I can assess how you are actually moving in your own space and provide recommendations that are specific to your real daily life, not a generic treatment room. The result is care that is more personalized, more convenient, and a lot less stressful during an already full season of life.

Physical therapy can help with a wide range of pregnancy and postpartum symptoms and concerns, including core weakness and diastasis recti, pelvic pain, pressure, or heaviness, tailbone pain, urinary leakage, constipation or bowel incontinence, cesarean recovery, back, hip, or SI joint pain, and return to exercise guidance.
If you are unsure whether what you are experiencing is something physical therapy can help with, please do not hesitate to reach out. That is exactly what I am here for.

Plaetz Therapy is a cash-based, out-of-network practice. Upon request, I can provide a Superbill for you to submit to your insurance company for potential reimbursement. I do not perform prior authorizations, submit claims, or communicate with insurance companies directly.
This model of care allows me to treat each client based on their individual needs, focus on proactive and preventative care, address root causes rather than just symptoms, and provide uninterrupted one-on-one time without restrictions from third-party payers.

As a cash pay service I accept several types of payment, including debit card, credit card, Health Savings Accounts (HSA), and Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA).
A card will be kept on file to be billed at each appointment, including any late cancellation or no show fees. This card may be a credit, debit, HSA, or FSA card.
You may always request an invoice to submit directly to your employer or HSA/FSA provider for reimbursement. You may also request superbill receipt if you wish to submit self claims to your insurance provider for reimbursement.
